One Man Two Wheels
My name is Jay, born 1960 in Nakuru, Kenya, and lived in the UK since 1961.
These pages are dedicated to my main interests, motorcycling and travel.
There will be the occasional wandering off track, as it were, about me and perhaps a few other things.
I live in Dorset with my partner Jo and have lived here since 1971.
I am a machinist by trade, which has its benefits as well as drawbacks.
Since meeting Jo, in 2005, I have discovered travel! In fact, I didn't even bother to obtain a passport until I met Jo, but as the years roll by, seemingly faster year after year, I have come to appreciate there is a world out there that I need to go out and discover, because it sure isn't going to come to me!
My first overseas excursion, other than as a child, being posted with the family to Bahrain in 1966, and previously being conceived in Kenya, was to Amsterdam, Holland.
In 2009 we both took part in a 4x4 rally through 11 countries in 9 days, raising sponsorship funds for both Prostate Cancer and Unicef, whilst behind the wheel of our Land Rover Discovery Td5, affectionately known as T62!
In 2011 we both set off to the Alps and Dolomites aboard my BMW F650FL, and in 2012 I did a solo trip through parts of the Alps on my BMW R1200GS.
As the financial world gets itself tied in knots I find it hard to fathom where and when my next adventure begins and the last one ends. I try not to think about it though as I am quite limited to one getaway per year, at present (2012).
I need to take on board, or perhaps even steal some of the optimism Jo seems to have in abundance!
